The late WWE Hall of Famer Chyna, who was inducted as part of Degeneration-X in 2019, established a legendary career during her time in the professional wrestling business.
While many consider her time as the “muscle” of DX, Chyna also has amassed and incredible resume than includes victories over Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Jeff Jarrett, and even Triple H. She held the WWF Women’s Championship and, to this date, is the only woman to ever hold the WWF/E Intercontinental Championship.
She was the first woman to compete in the Royal Rumble and, again to this date, is the only woman to ever compete in the King of the Ring tournament.
Some astute fans may even recall a very brief 2011 run in TNA.
What many don’t know, however, is that in 2002, Chyna had a short run in New Japan Pro Wrestling!
During this time, she competed in a handful of matches. At the thirtieth anniversary show, she was the referee for a match pitting Kensuke Sasaki and Hiroshi Tanahashi against the Steiner Brothers. Later, she squared off in singles competition against Masahiro Chono. Chyna even competed in a tag contest against Tanahashi and Kenzo Suzuki during her tenure with the company.
Perhaps most exciting for wrestling enthusiasts, however, is the fact that Chyna briefly squared off against recently-retired legend Jushin Thunder Liger.
In a video that has been circulating around social media, the two share a quick in-ring exchange that has left many fans clamoring for more. In an ultimate tale of “what if,” who knows how successful an in-her-prime Chyna could have been given the right platforms.
